An open class, jointly organized by Teaching Affairs of YZU, School of Social Science, School of Mathematical Science and School of Physical Science and Technology, was successfully held on Nov 4, 2020. It set the stage for the new teachers from all the three schools of YZU to showcase their capability of teaching in the first place, the open class also offered a precious opportunity for these young talents to listen to the comments by some teaching supervisors right after their 20-minute-long presentation. The activity was aimed at enhancing the teaching capability of young faculty members on the one hand, on the other hand, it helped to check out the effectiveness of carrying out the measure of arranging supervisors for young teachers to help them do well in teaching.

Zhao Liang, a young teacher from our school, gave us a presentation focusing on the Angular Momentum and the Law of Conservation of Angular Momentum. The 20 minutes teaching unfolded smoothly from the definition of angular momentum to the application of the law of conservation of angular momentum with key checkpoints appropriately highlighted. Dr. Zhao impressed the experts on the spot by his clear explanation on the principles and convincing logic in his narration. The experienced supervisors also pinpointed what should be further improved in his teaching manner, teaching language, and teaching methods from the perspective of veteran teachers. 

Five new teachers participating in the activity said after the open class that they’ve got some valuable advice from the comments made by the veteran teachers. They believe in their early period of teaching in class, an experienced supervisor is worth his weight in gold.
